Genshin Impact Fans Express Discontent Over miHoYo’s New Character Design
In recent weeks, the community surrounding Genshin Impact has been buzzing with anticipation for the reveal of Escoffier, the next five-star character set to debut in version 5.6. It can be said that this mysterious lady has already garnered significant attention, not only because she is one of the last two five-star characters to be introduced since version 5.0 but also due to her potential to provide a “super buff” for the Cooking/Support system in version 6.0.

However, the design and gameplay (which has been confirmed) of Escoffier have been met with mixed reactions across various popular forums. Contrary to expectations, the charming chef from Fontaine has been criticized for being too simplistic, drawing comparisons to a four-star character. Some opinions even suggest that she may not be significantly different from Ifa, a newly confirmed four-star character introduced at the same time.

miHoYo Faces Backlash, Accused of Neglecting Escoffier’s Character Development
Just hours after the character design and skill set of Escoffier were revealed, a wave of criticism began to spread across major platforms such as Reddit, Twitter, and Hoyolab. Many fans expressed their disappointment, suggesting that miHoYo has “skimped” on the character who is expected to play a central role in the upcoming version.

To understand the context, prior to Escoffier’s reveal, the game was already focused on the introduction of Capitano as a new DPS character. However, after it was confirmed that Capitano would not debut and the role would shift to Escoffier, this new character seems to have lost her ability to stand out and contribute meaningfully to the gameplay experience.
Despite this, the potential for Escoffier’s super buff could lead to a backlash when she officially launches. Will Escoffier truly be “not worth a single coin”? The answer will likely only become clear when version 5.6 officially rolls out in the near future.
