Currently, the most powerful characters in the manga One Piece are known to be the Five Elders, or Gorosei. They hold significant influence over the World Government and are said to be the pinnacle of authority, governing the military might of the Marines. However, when discussing their strength and power, one must also consider the hidden figures referred to as the “Celestial Dragons,” who can be seen as the ultimate power players on the side of “justice” (although in the context of One Piece, there isn’t truly a definitive concept of justice).
Who Are the Five Elders?
The identities of the Five Elders have not been revealed in detail, and they have made very few appearances in the story. This group of five elderly men consists of:
- An elderly man with long white hair, dressed in a formal suit, and has a long scar across his face…
- A tall, elderly man with long, shaggy gray hair and a beard.
- A man with a middle-parted hairstyle, wearing a formal suit with a distinctive and somewhat imposing appearance.
- A bald elderly man with a long orange beard (likely a fan of the character Marco, though his beard style varies greatly).
- An elderly man dressed in white, holding a sword (unlike the other four, he appears to be the most powerful and influential).
This group of five individuals currently controls the World Government, an organization that has united 170 countries on the globe and established the Marines, a military force that is the strongest on the world stage of One Piece and plays a crucial role in maintaining order across nearly all regions of the One Piece world.
Are They Villains or Good People?
In reality, since the Five Elders have not been thoroughly explored, it is difficult to conclusively label them as good or evil. However, it is evident that the lines between good and evil in One Piece are quite blurred. This group of elderly gentlemen governs the Marines and is determined to maintain peace across the globe.
However, they often resort to extreme measures to ensure the world remains “orderly.” They have hidden information about battles and the Revolutionary Army for fear of causing disorder in the world.
