Fans of One Piece have recently experienced a rollercoaster of emotions regarding Sanji’s portrayal in the anime. Fortunately, the latest episode has brought the much-needed “rescue” for this character, even surpassing the expectations of many viewers. Despite debates over how Sanji is presented in the anime compared to the manga, this recent episode has shown that there is no negative bias lingering in the aftermath, and production has no intention of “diminishing” the image and reputation of the “Black Leg” character.
One Piece episode 1128 titled “The Great Disaster Descends – The Scientific War of Saturn,” premiered on May 4, 2025, once again demonstrating the immense drawing power of the series. Although the episode lacks some of the captivating elements, the standout point undeniably is Sanji. He not only appears prominently but also showcases his actions, especially during the critical moment he rescues Bonney from Kuma’s laser attack, marking one of the key highlights of the episode.
Although it does not reach the “peak” level of excitement, the high-octane action preceding the episode still offers a fantastic moment and serves as a positive sign for the more impressive moments of Sanji in the future, which will undoubtedly be presented fairly.

The “high-quality” appearance of Sanji in the latest episode of One Piece anime
The episode has also recreated the scene of Sanji using Observation Haki, comically referring to it as “Lady Radar,” to assist Bonney. She had to endure a terrifying moment witnessing her father’s image in front of the unstoppable Pacifista machine. However, the retreat of the Straw Hat crew was thwarted by Saturn. While Luffy is engaged in battle with Admiral Kizaru, Bonney, in a moment of desperation, charged into the assault against Saturn, trying to avenge her father and striking back at him.

For those unaware, the controversy surrounding Sanji erupted when the initial music segment of the anime was revealed. This music segment removed Sanji from a frame featuring all the members of the Straw Hat crew, and added a scene where he has heart-shaped eyes directed at Bonney, a character who has sparked much debate regarding her age.
Many Sanji fans have expressed that this is not the first time such a situation has occurred and criticized the anime’s direction for “oversexualizing” this character. This has, in turn, prompted some of the previous directors of the anime to publicly explain the production process both internally and externally, as well as the reasons why such a portrayal could be contentious.
Sanji’s “peak” moments at Egghead are still ahead
Sanji has had some of the most outstanding moments in the anime, surpassing even his battle with Queen, where he shed tears while begging for Luffy’s help, Robin’s heartwarming plea, and many other poignant moments. All these elements have been presented exceptionally well in the anime, and there are still many wonderful moments ahead that will continue to highlight his character’s complexity and strength.

With Egghead Part 2 bringing forth a wealth of cinematic experiences, action, and stunning visuals, Sanji will undoubtedly prove why he is an indispensable member of the Straw Hat crew, and the anime is showcasing the vibrant contrast between his best traits.
