As one of the most successful manga brands and a staple in pop culture, One Piece is making a remarkable leap into a new era, specifically dedicated to top-tier anime adaptations: the live-action film adaptation.

Announced on July 21, 2017, the live-action adaptation of One Piece is set to premiere in 2023. With this timeline in mind, many fans are understandably concerned about the project’s potential success. History has shown that numerous adaptations of popular anime into live-action films have faced significant challenges and failures.
However, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has assured fans that he is deeply involved in the project from start to finish. Netflix has also confirmed that the adaptation will not be released until Oda is satisfied with the final product.
The new poster for the live-action One Piece film has been officially released, debuting in the 26th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.

An official live-action website for One Piece will launch on May 31, 2023, for fans to explore further.

Interestingly, the ship is not the only element that differs from the anime version. In the newly released poster, Luffy is shown wearing shoes instead of his traditional sandals as seen in the anime and manga.
Netflix has previously adapted several anime into live-action films, achieving varying degrees of success, such as with Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach, and Rurouni Kenshin. Therefore, with Netflix’s experience in adapting anime and the oversight from Eiichiro Oda, we can be hopeful for the upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece.
