Netflix has officially greenlit the second season of the live-action One Piece series, based on the famous manga by Eiichiro Oda. This exciting news was shared directly by Eiichiro Oda through his own Den Den Mushi transmission.
“I want to send my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been a fan of One Piece for many years and to those who are experiencing One Piece for the first time. Thank you very much! Two weeks after the show’s release, I received some fantastic news. Netflix has decided to proceed with the second season. The adventures of Inaki and the Straw Hat crew in the live-action version will continue. It will take some time to finalize the script, so please be patient,” Oda stated.
The introduction of Chopper into the second season of the live-action One Piece series has also been confirmed. Fans have expressed concerns about how this character will be portrayed in the series due to his unique appearance.
To address this concern, Eiichiro Oda has started planning for the role of Chopper. The author mentioned: “From now on, there will be a doctor who will be introduced, and we will see him in the film!” This announcement was accompanied by a sneak peek of Oda sketching out Chopper.
Production teams at Tomorrow Studios have been in discussions with Oda, Netflix, and Shueisha regarding the script for the live-action One Piece series for up to the sixth season.
The intention of the producers is to ensure at least six seasons, utilizing the original material to its fullest. Currently, the release date for live-action One Piece Season 2 has not been announced. As the One Piece creator has indicated, it will take some time to prepare the script for the second season.
Moreover, the ongoing strikes in Hollywood may potentially cause delays if not resolved quickly.
