In the SBS section of the newly released One Piece Volume 112, a fan inquired about the role of Scopper Gaban, a member of the Roger crew. Oda confirmed that Gaban was essentially the right-hand man of Roger, who guided him to Laugh Tale and helped Roger attain the title of Pirate King. Fans have been particularly intrigued by the complete revelation of the structure of the Roger Pirates compared to the current Straw Hat crew. The Roger Pirates had roles that many other pirate crews do not prioritize.
