Many questions arise regarding this ability, and fans have debated how they could potentially counter it. Gaban has suggested that one way to counter such powers might be through the use of Haki, but there may also be alternative methods to achieve resilience, which could involve a unique type of Devil Fruit.
Some Devil Fruits in One Piece have the ability to affect the soul of an individual. For example, Big Mom wields the Soru Soru no Mi (Soul-Soul Fruit), allowing her to manipulate souls.
