After the exclusive release on PS5, Rise of the Ronin – a game developed by Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo – has finally launched on PC.
However, instead of making a strong impact, the game has quickly faced backlash from the community due to some serious technical issues.

Rise of the Ronin officially launched on Steam on March 11 with a price tag close to 1 million VND – a relatively low number compared to many other titles.
However, this launch was not smooth sailing as expected. The game has only received a 44% positive rating based on a total of 676 reviews – a concerning statistic. Players continuously reported poor performance and quality issues that have severely affected the experience. Some opinions on Steam pointed out that despite a long period spent optimizing shaders, the game still suffers from serious lag, especially in cutscene segments. Moreover, other titles have encountered issues when running on high-end systems, yet they still manage to perform well, indicating that the optimization for Rise of the Ronin is notably lacking.

Not only on Steam, but the complaints about the poor performance of Rise of the Ronin have also appeared frequently on forums like ResetEra and Reddit. Rise of the Ronin is not the only game this year to face such optimization issues on PC. GTA 5 Enhanced has become one of the lowest-rated titles in Rockstar’s history on Steam, Monster Hunter Wilds has received numerous criticisms, and Spider-Man 2 also experienced a rather rocky launch.

With the current situation, Rise of the Ronin is on the brink of becoming one of the most quickly forgotten titles of 2024. If the developers do not rapidly release patches to improve performance, the game could very well fade into obscurity despite having a gameplay foundation filled with potential.
