The Lunar New Year film season of 2023 has brought forth two Vietnamese productions that have attracted significant audience attention after a year of limited releases. However, the joyful moments did not last long, as one of the films is currently facing a distressing situation that highlights the poor reception from viewers.

Recently, a TikTok account emerged, showcasing footage that violates distribution regulations of the Tet film Chị Chị Em Em 2, featuring Minh Hằng and Ngọc Trinh in leading roles. This account has also been strategically dividing the film into multiple videos to attract engagement, with some clips garnering over 300,000 views. The comments section has become a battleground with intense debates among netizens.

This clearly demonstrates a violation of distribution regulations, potentially infringing upon legal statutes. Currently, Chị Chị Em Em 2 has just been released for three days and is already a ‘hot’ topic aiming for high box office revenue while simultaneously experiencing a notable decline in audience interest. Not only did one excerpt become publicly available, but the entire cast has also faced significant backlash, affecting both the film and the team’s reputation.
Actress Minh Hằng, portraying Ba Trà in the film, has also expressed her frustration regarding the ongoing issues surrounding the film. “I can’t say anything since these matters are quite absurd,” she commented during a recent livestream.

This is not the first time the film has faced the issue of ‘leaks’, as it has been shared widely on social media platforms. Previously, Facebook was a medium for live streaming, but now TikTok has become the ‘new environment’ for these audiences to engage. Interestingly, by the end of the second day of Tet, Chị Chị Em Em 2, directed by Vũ Ngọc Đãng, has surpassed 10 billion VND at the box office (according to Box Office Vietnam), ranking second in ticket sales after Nhà Bà Nữ by Trấn Thành.
