Power Rangers is a dark-themed film that is a remake of the original Power Rangers superhero series aimed at children from Japan and the US. In Vietnam, Power Rangers has become closely associated with the childhood of many viewers born in the 1980s and 1990s.
The images depicting the Power Rangers superheroes in the film have been revealed, receiving a lot of attention from audiences worldwide for their modern and vibrant designs that are not inferior to current superhero movies.
Recently, Bandai announced the design of a new line of toys inspired by the Power Rangers’ Zords from the film. The robotic team includes the Mastodon Zord, Triceratops Zord, Sabertooth Tiger Zord, and Pterodactyl Zord, which will appear in the upcoming movie.
List of Zords that will appear in the film:
- T-Rex Zord – Controlled by Jason, the Red Ranger
- Triceratops Zord – Controlled by Billy, the Blue Ranger
- Mastodon Zord – Controlled by Zack, the Black Ranger
- Sabertooth Tiger Zord – Controlled by Trini, the Yellow Ranger
- Pterodactyl Zord – Controlled by Kimberly, the Pink Ranger
The designs of the Zords have faced criticism from many fans for their perceived poor aesthetics. Some fans even compared these Zords to cheap toys that children can buy from street vendors due to their unappealing colors and designs that differ significantly from the original concepts.
Although the images may not be appealing, there are still devoted fans who defend the film, believing that it is merely a toy version and that the colors and details of these Zords do not need to be captivating. The film version will be realized with CGI, so it is expected to look much better than the current designs.
The Power Rangers film is set to be released to audiences on March 24, 2017.
