Nintendo has long dominated the handheld gaming market, and the Nintendo Switch has become a household name. Valve also made its mark with the popular Steam Deck last year.
And now, this is the story of Sony, as the renowned publisher is about to bring some exciting news for PlayStation gamers.

Specifically, according to the latest reports, Sony is experimenting with a completely new handheld gaming console that will directly compete with the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck.
In line with the functionalities of handheld gaming systems, Sony’s desire is for gamers to be able to enjoy their favorite titles on PlayStation anywhere. This device is expected to bring flexibility – a key feature of the PlayStation brand, which has always excelled in its ability to transition smoothly between titles.

Initially, Sony hopes that the Portal will serve as a rival to the Nintendo Switch, and this device has already achieved some early success since its release in 2023. However, the requirement for an internet connection to utilize online gaming features has made it less convenient compared to the easily accessible Switch.

According to sources, it may take several more years for the official launch of the new handheld version of PlayStation. In fact, this is not the first time Sony has developed handheld gaming devices. The closest product was the PS Vita, which sold around 10-15 million units throughout its lifespan.
