Krafton Acquires ADK Group: What Does This Mean for Doraemon and Other IPs?
Krafton – the renowned global gaming company, known as the “father” behind blockbuster titles like PUBG and InzoI, has recently made headlines by investing 75 million USD (approximately 1,750 billion VND) to acquire ADK Group.

ADK Group is a well-established advertising and animation production company in Japan. With nearly seven decades of experience in the animation industry, it has contributed to the creation of over 300 internationally acclaimed anime works, including Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan, and Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Krafton’s investment is not merely a business strategy; it is a clear indication of their intent to diversify their portfolio. This acquisition also serves as a strong signal regarding their strategy to connect the gaming world with the animation sector – two fields that hold significant potential for creating innovative “synergy” within the global content industry.
What New IPs Might Krafton Develop Following This Acquisition?
According to an official press release, Krafton emphasizes the strategic importance of ADK Group’s expertise in animation planning, production, and development, combined with Krafton’s extensive experience in game development, operation, and distribution. This collaboration is expected to generate numerous new IPs with strong appeal, potentially leading to successful franchise developments for both parties.

Krafton shared: “Acquiring ADK Group will help broaden our capabilities in connecting animation and gaming, while also enhancing the content ecosystem in Japan. Additionally, it will create new value propositions that align with the increasingly high demands of the global market.”
This investment of approximately 1,750 billion VND not only allows Krafton to access the valuable assets of ADK Group but also creates a “launchpad” for developing promising local projects. As audience preferences increasingly lean towards immersive “cross-genre” content, integrating gaming with animation is seen as a crucial step for both sectors to evolve together.
