GAM Esports Can’t “Break Through” at MSI 2025
As we know, the disappointing defeat of GAM against G2 in the final BO5 of the Play-In Stage officially marked the team’s entry into the VCS “airport”. Despite their determined efforts until the last moments of game five, just one misstep in team fighting led to the defeat, leaving GAM feeling “overwhelmed” and missing out on all opportunities.

Although this was a completely unfavorable result, the defeat against G2 left the Vietnamese League of Legends community feeling regretful. In fact, GAM had a much better chance at this year’s MSI. The team’s early exit may be attributed to a slight lack of experience and a bit of bad luck.

Thus, GAM still cannot “break through,” moving further away from international competition. Since finishing sixth at the MSI in 2017, it has been eight years, and GAM has yet to achieve any remarkable milestones, only aiming for higher rankings.
GAM has had opportunities to “compete” with BLG and G2 – two very strong teams in the current meta. GAM will be placed in the ninth position, earning up to $100,000 in prize money. This will be a significant source of motivation, helping GAM continue to develop and gain experience, preparing for the next seasons.

In a post-match interview, Levi outlined the objectives that GAM aims to achieve in 2025. Currently, after the conclusion of MSI, GAM will participate in three major tournaments, including EWC, LCP, and Worlds. For EWC, Levi shared that GAM only aims to qualify for the “lowest possible round”. However, in LCP, GAM aims to win the championship. Looking forward to “breaking through,” GAM hopes to reach the top 8 at this year’s Worlds.
Will GAM’s “no compromise” goal in 2025 be successful?

In reality, this is quite an ambitious goal for GAM at the moment. In EWC and Worlds, we will see GAM facing off against top-tier teams, and if they can make any notable impacts, it would be quite admirable. However, in LCP, competing for the championship against strong teams from PCS and VCS is entirely feasible, especially after the impressive performance displayed at this year’s MSI.
