Gumayusi: The Potential Successor to Faker
Currently, it can be said that Gumayusi is a top-tier player in the League of Legends (LoL) scene. Not only is he currently competing for the most prestigious team in the League of Legends history, but Gumayusi has also been a top-tier player during the entire span of his career, including two World Championships. Additionally, for many fans of T1, Gumayusi is seen as the future of the team and may even become a worthy successor to Faker.

However, alongside his talent and confidence similar to the legendary “Mr. Faker,” Gumayusi is also in the process of developing a playstyle that resembles Faker’s but with a more aggressive edge. For example, many fans have noticed Gumayusi’s habit of using the combo of A + spacing, which is quite effective for his hands.
According to some analysts, Gumayusi’s “spam A” habit is quite hard to catch. An average player can only manage to keep up for a short time before their hand starts to tire. During this time, Gumayusi consistently maintains a high level of focus and skill that is far beyond regular ranked or casual training. There’s no denying that Gumayusi’s performance has been impressive, especially in the long 5-game series.

Faker himself has maintained a habit of using “loose hand” style for most of his career, which has led to some minor injuries. In the Summer Split of 2023, he had to take a break from competition for a while. According to Faker, he had to change his habits to continue his professional career.
Of course, regarding titles and professional standing, Gumayusi finds it challenging to compare himself to someone like Faker. However, within the context of League of Legends and T1, Gumayusi is currently and will likely be the one to “inherit” Faker’s legacy. This is precisely what T1 is building around the 2002-born superstar.

However, Gumayusi must also maintain his best condition. His current playstyle shows effectiveness, but both he and T1 need to consider their long-term future.
