Recently, actor Ben Affleck revealed the official title of the upcoming standalone film featuring the character he plays, which is known as The Batman. It’s truly “surprising,” isn’t it?
In an interview with the Associated Press during a short press conference for the film The Accountant, Affleck stated: “The standalone Batman film will soon be titled The Batman. That’s all I can disclose at this time. It could still change.”
“We are currently finishing the script,” Ben Affleck shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “The script is coming along well, and I’m really excited about it.”
Last week, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes announced that the standalone Batman film is expected to be completed in about a year, although there have been indications that this project could be “delayed” until late 2020, rather than the previously anticipated release in 2018.
However, Ben Affleck’s announcement regarding the appearance of the character Deathstroke, played by actor Joe Manganiello, along with an image of Deathstroke released in a clip, has fueled fan speculation about the film potentially being completed sooner than expected in 2018.
Although the official title of the film is The Batman, many fans are “surprised” by its simplicity. However, it has to be said that this is indeed a standalone film about Batman, and thus, naming it The Batman is appropriate.
