Riot Unveils New Viktor Skin, Sparking Excitement Among League of Legends Community
In 2025, Riot has conducted a remake of Viktor’s character, inspired by his appearance in the series Arcane. Although Viktor has been rated as a balanced champion, many players, including professional League of Legends (LoL) competitors, have expressed concerns regarding the “pay-to-win” elements associated with the newly designed skin. Recently, Riot has decided to officially release a skin for Viktor titled “Viktor Traditional.”

However, this decision has caused the League of Legends community to express dissatisfaction. Many players feel that for years, Riot has prioritized profit over quality, leading to low-quality skins or merely remastered versions of existing skins. A prime example is Samira’s Ultimate Skin, which, while aesthetically pleasing, lacks significant enhancements compared to previous Ultimate skins.

According to various opinions, the League of Legends community is concerned that Riot will turn the traditional Viktor skin into a monetization tool, similar to previous years. In the past, during remakes of champions, the skins associated with them usually received enhancements for players. Currently, if Riot places Viktor’s traditional skin into a gacha event, players may not be able to obtain it without spending.
Riot Continues to Spark Controversy with New Skin Designs
While League of Legends: Wild Rift often features exclusive skins, Riot seems to be focusing on “replicating” the popular PC version’s champion skins with a lower quality. In recent years, Riot has also introduced numerous skins into the gacha system, forcing players to pay to have a chance at acquiring desired skins, often requiring more funds than would be necessary for direct purchases.

Nevertheless, if these monetization strategies continue, Riot is unlikely to change its approach, and the League of Legends community may have to accept “pay-to-play” elements if they wish to enjoy new skins.
