On January 23, 2025, Samsung Electronics and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) officially announced that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature Corning® Gorilla® Armor 2 — the first ceramic glass material in the mobile industry that combines scratch resistance and superior anti-glare properties for portable devices. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will bring this groundbreaking technology to the display of the device, marking a milestone in mobile display technology.

Compared to previous generations, Corning® Gorilla® Armor 2 will provide greater durability, allowing devices equipped with this glass to withstand more severe impacts and scratches in daily life. Notably, when dropped on hard surfaces, Gorilla Armor 2 is designed to minimize damage, ensuring better performance over time.
With its anti-glare properties, Gorilla Armor 2 can significantly reduce reflections under all environmental conditions indoors and outdoors, while also enhancing the touch sensitivity of the display, providing a superior visual experience for users in various lighting conditions.
In Corning’s tests, Gorilla Armor 2 has withstood drops from heights of up to 2.2 meters on a concrete surface, while other ceramic glass materials typically fail when dropped from only 1 meter. Additionally, Gorilla Armor 2 exhibits four times better scratch resistance compared to other types of lithium-aluminosilicate glass with scratch-resistant coatings.
