Superstar Gumayusi Receives Warm Praise from Riot
Since the start of the 2025 season, Gumayusi has been a player with a remarkable presence on the newly formed T1 team, especially leading up to the MSI qualifiers. After winning two consecutive World Championship titles with T1, the 2002-born support player faced a challenging start, having to climb ranks without participating in scrims, just to “keep his hands warmed up.” However, after overcoming initial difficulties, Gumayusi returned to form, proving to be a critical asset in T1’s journey to secure a spot at MSI 2025.

Recently, Gumayusi has become one of the few players that Riot has warmly praised. According to Max Perlman, the lead designer and developer for the new champion Yunara, he has acknowledged that Gumayusi is the ideal player for this champion, stating, “Yunara is designed for players like Gumayusi.”
He noted, “Yunara will be a champion for those who enjoy the playstyle of a traditional support, enriching the League of Legends experience. Throughout my career, Gumayusi has demonstrated a strong affinity for this role. Therefore, if anyone is a player that we want to showcase Yunara, it must be Gumayusi.”

This could be considered a “special privilege” for Gumayusi. Historically, Riot rarely mentions a champion closely associated with any player, especially before their professional debut. It can be said that Riot has “put on special shoes” for the superstar from T1.
Gumayusi’s Playstyle with T1: Traditional Yet Distinctive
In fact, during many recent seasons, T1 has relied on the support of Gumayusi either as an aggressive or strategic player to assist Faker and Zeus/Doran during their matches. His ability to dominate the lane and effectively utilize his resources has helped T1 maintain a strong competitive edge. However, many have overlooked that Gumayusi is, in essence, a traditional support player, who simply needs to utilize resources to create space for himself and his team.

Therefore, if T1 can fully harness this potential and provide Gumayusi the necessary conditions, it could restore confidence in their support player. Especially as he still holds the position of the second support player in T1, following Bang, after winning two consecutive World Championships.
