Spider-Man: Homecoming has recently released its trailer, which has left audiences around the world feeling incredibly excited about the thrilling scenes of the young hero, Spider-Man. It has been quite a while since Tobey Maguire donned the role of Spider-Man, and the enthusiasm of the audience has been elevated once again.
Not only has the official trailer been unveiled, but the production team has also immediately announced their confidence in starting the sequel, which is set to be released in 2019, regardless of the box office performance of the first installment.
One of the reasons that has made audiences feel so enthusiastic about Spider-Man: Homecoming is the dedication, energy, and naivety of the actor Tom Holland. His lively and energetic portrayal perfectly aligns with the expectations fans have for Spider-Man.
To achieve this liveliness and speed in the action scenes, as seen in Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland had to undergo an intense training regimen, even having to train as rigorously as a professional stunt performer.
During a live stream addressing fan questions on Facebook, Tom Holland shared numerous anecdotes about his filming experience. One of the most notable memories was performing dangerous stunts and witnessing terrifying scenes, which made him feel quite intimidated:
“The trainer who shaped my skills from Billy Elliot helped me train a lot to perform these dangerous scenes. I felt really proud of these scenes, so I always tried to perform them without needing a stunt double. However, there were still some scenes that I could not perform. For instance, when I had to hang upside down while doing my own stunts in a scene where I fell into a dumpster.”
Recalling this scene, Tom Holland had to draw on a previous experience when he was still in shock from performing such stunts:
“When I did the stunt, I felt like I was ‘letting myself down’. I just needed to be hanging upside down, but when I saw the stunt double falling down, I felt fortunate to have him doing the hard part because that was the scariest scene I had ever participated in. Can you imagine the scene where you are hanging upside down and then suddenly fall into a dumpster? No matter how high the stunt was, I still couldn’t do it without a stunt double.”
After hearing Tom Holland’s experiences about this stunt, many viewers have been keen to rewatch the trailer to see if there are any scenes like that. We still need to wait until Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017, to find out which scene it is.
