On June 18, Netflix announced a series of new projects currently in development, with a particular focus on the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the Japanese animated series One Piece (Vietnamese title: Đảo Hải Tặc). The series, which is set to be a lengthy production, has released its first batch of images and a trailer, showcasing the character Monkey D. Luffy portrayed by a 100% real actor.

The next character to draw attention and receive praise in the Netflix adaptation of One Piece is Zoro with green hair. This character, portrayed by Japanese actor Mackenyu, has a classic masculine design but has not yet revealed much in terms of performance.

One of the most anticipated characters in the film is Nami, whose portrayal has sparked much debate. Some opinions have not yet settled regarding the depiction by Emily Rudd, while viewers are eager to see how this character will be portrayed in the initial episodes (where she is still in need of help before teaming up with Luffy).

Sanji is a character that leaves viewers most confused in this live-action adaptation of One Piece. Played by actor Taz Skylar, his appearance has not yet fully captured the essence of the character’s original charm.

The final member of the Straw Hat Pirates that grabs viewers’ attention is Usopp. Portrayed by Jacob Romero Gibson, Usopp is praised for his cleverness and unique appearance, staying true to the original character, albeit missing the iconic long nose.

Aside from the Straw Hat Pirates, the trailer for One Piece also introduced several other notable characters, praised for their grandiose environments. It can be seen that One Piece is receiving a lot of positive reviews despite the pressure of adaptation. This time, creator Eiichiro Oda plays the role of executive producer, overseeing the project to ensure that audiences have hope for a faithful adaptation.

One Piece is officially set to premiere on August 31 of this year.
