Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown – The Latest Tactical Strategy Game Released on the Ninja Turtle Brand
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown has officially launched on PC and is fully compatible with Steam Deck. This game can be considered a bold departure from previous traditional hack-and-slash titles, with Tactical Takedown offering a unique and engaging experience.

Typically, TMNT games are known for their real-time combat with intense action sequences.
However, in Tactical Takedown, the developer Strange Scaffold has chosen a turn-based tactical style – a daring approach. In Tactical Takedown, players control each member of the Ninja Turtles team, moving them strategically across dynamic battlegrounds. Each mission requires players to navigate various challenges and eliminate foes – typically members of the Foot Clan – to reach the end of each level. While it sounds simple, the gameplay design creates a rapid-fire experience that keeps players engaged.

One of the key elements that enhances the game’s appeal is the ability to switch characters during combat. For example, in one scenario, characters can enter a stealthy submarine, and as the submarine begins to move, there are warning indicators showing that it is about to submerge, prompting players to think strategically. This design forces players to continually adjust their tactics, creating a sense of urgency that is often absent in traditional action games. At times, the Ninja Turtles do not fight together, but each character independently tackles specific missions. However, the game still emphasizes teamwork while navigating through various encounters, highlighting the deep bond between the turtles through genuine interactions and witty dialogue. The unique abilities of the Ninja Turtles encourage aggressive tactics. Frequently, players can execute impressive combos that take down multiple enemies in one go – delivering a satisfying and rewarding experience.

Despite its many bright spots, Tactical Takedown has been criticized for its lack of content. The gameplay feels somewhat simplistic, with limited variations in the environments. Although each Turtle has unique abilities that exhibit their personalities, the sound design and combat animations lack diversity. Some levels also tend to drag on unnecessarily, causing the overall experience to occasionally feel monotonous. Tactical Takedown has been released on PC via Steam since May 22.
