T1 Apologizes Again: The Deepening Drama with Gumayusi
Following the match between T1 and KT, not only Coach KkOma but also the team’s GM Becker shared a post addressing the situation regarding Gumayusi. However, the post from T1’s management, published around 2 AM, sparked intense debate among fans. In summary, the content congratulated Faker on reaching 1,000 games and acknowledged Geumjae (Smash) while expressing regret towards the coaching staff for the contributions made. They also emphasized the need to refrain from blaming Gumayusi, clarifying misinformation and committing to support the team better.

According to many opinions, the GM’s side effectively retained the coaches’ perspectives (regarding replacing Gumayusi), and the apology towards Gumayusi appeared to carry a tone of “acting cool” as T1 was unable to address the toxic criticisms that Gumayusi had to endure since the onset of this drama.
Moreover, on the day of Faker’s 1,000th match, nine trucks paraded through the streets of SK and T1 to express their support for T1 and Gumayusi. However, by the end of the day, no one from T1 had publicly voiced any opinions. For those who may not know, the nine trucks were more than what the organization had mobilized since Gumayusi’s debut, despite T1 having passed through the LCK Cup and three matches of the Regular Seasons 2025.

T1’s Increasing Controversy
Immediately following the lengthy post that stirred up fan outrage, GM Becker continued with an apology for the previous post and insisted that the opinion expressed was solely personal. However, this is not the first time within approximately six months that T1 has shown inconsistency in public statements.
A prime example was when Coach KkOma refused to acknowledge “gathering data,” and GM Becker subsequently stated that Gumayusi had not participated in scrims. Following that, the T1 CEO mentioned he had to “intervene” to bring Gumayusi back to compete. This situation has since led to a surge of anti-fans targeting Gumayusi, intensifying the ongoing conflict.

As a prominent team known for its professional management style in the League of Legends scene, T1 continues to display a demeanor of “walking into a minefield.” This situation arises from T1’s own decisions to recruit teams that are labeled as “controversial figures.”
