T1 Celebrates “Pentakill” with Smash: An Uncommon Occurrence in League of Legends
As we know, in the current 2025 Regular Season, there have been several players achieving pentakills. This feat is significant in the esports world, especially for the players involved, including Faker, who after 10 years finally secured a pentakill for himself. Recently, a player from the T1 Challengers team, Smash, also achieved a pentakill, leading to a “celebration” by the main T1 team. Reportedly, T1 will organize a major event in their membership program to honor Smash’s pentakill, scheduled from May 17 to 23.

Interestingly, Smash is not the only player from T1 Challengers to achieve a pentakill; Faker also had a remarkable performance with the champion Ahri. Since Faker’s pentakill, another player, Poby, who is also a familiar face from T1 Challengers, achieved a pentakill with the champion Viktor. However, Poby did not receive any special welcome during this event.

Moreover, the initial event celebrating this pentakill was organized to highlight Faker’s remarkable skills and also received support from the League of Legends community. However, when Smash received a welcome that Poby did not, it raised eyebrows among many T1 supporters. Some fans even posed the question: “The anti-fans of Gumayusi are always vocal because Gumayusi receives support. But what is T1 doing with Smash? I don’t understand the logic of T1. Isn’t this making Smash receive negative feedback?”

Additionally, according to some reports, T1 has sent a letter to the players in South Korea requesting that CEO T1 include Gumayusi in the lineup for the 2025 Regular Seasons and referred to this action as “the revival of Esports.” However, this matter has only circulated within the communities of the Korean esports scene, and T1 has not made any public statements regarding it.
The “Undercurrents” Still Exist at T1
At present, despite having stabilized its performance, the “undercurrents” within T1 seem to be ongoing, and any subpar results can still lead to controversies immediately afterward. Therefore, it’s advisable for T1 fans not to place too much anticipation on this season, especially when even the core members of T1 are facing unresolved issues.
