Urgot’s Rise in TFT Set 13
After the launch of Set 13.3, the meta of TFT Set 13 is shifting significantly towards the “Fast 9” playstyle, utilizing the strength of 5-cost champions, and sometimes even 6-cost champions. This is primarily due to a range of high-activation traits that are being heavily emphasized, requiring players to adjust their strategies to fully utilize this aspect. The unintended changes are creating conditions for some reroll strategies (without nerfing prior) like Urgot – the Cannoneer rising up as it can generate immense pressure in the game and make it challenging for “Fast 9” compositions to execute their strategies effectively.

Moreover, both Urgot and Tristana have experienced notable increases in win rates across previous patches. Combined with substantial upgrades, Urgot is set to become an unstoppable “tank” that excels particularly against champions with low sustain. This is seen as a considerable shift against the “Fast 9” playstyle, as the 5-cost champions can no longer effectively withstand Urgot’s pressure.
Building Urgot – The Cannoneer in TFT Set 13
In the early stages of the game, players should focus on securing strong 1-cost champions like Darius and Draven to maintain health. Combining these with a 1-star Urgot at level 4 can lead to a consistent winning streak. Additionally, Draven serves as a strong early game component for Tristana, allowing players to pair items like Infinity Edge or Guinsoo’s Rageblade early on to create a formidable carry.

In the level 6 upgrade phase, players should aim to buy experience to quickly level Urgot to 3 stars. Furthermore, Tristana also serves as a strong early-game unit with a similar cost, synergizing well with the Cannoneer trait. Players should also consider supplementing their team with strong 3-cost units like Nunu, Gangplank, and Swain to activate key traits like 3 Cannoneers, 2 Duelists, and 1 Ironclad to bolster Urgot’s performance.

By the time players reach level 8, it’s advisable to complete the 4 Cannoneer trait with Corki and Ezreal to boost damage output. Additionally, Elise becomes a strong addition to the team to enhance survivability and deter enemy champions. If players have enough gold and activate the Cannoneer trait, they can aim for level 9 and include Warwick to further enhance competitive positioning.

Key Tips for Building the Composition
In this composition, Urgot typically functions as a frontline tank, hence players should prioritize items that enhance durability such as Bloodthirster and Sterak’s Gage. Therefore, players might opt for the item Guardian Angel to help Urgot withstand damage when Sterak’s Gage activates. Additionally, items that increase attack speed for rerolls or enhance survivability like Cannoneer traits are highly suitable for this setup.
