This year, the program features Ngọc Hoàng alongside Bắc Đẩu in their roles, with the main storyline revolving around the characters searching for a home amidst the “mini apartment” trend. Following that, Ngọc Hoàng returns to deliver the end-of-year summary alongside the other Táo characters through a “conversation” segment, which will lead into the final recap of the year.
Compared to previous years, the 2024 Táo Quân lacks the vibrant performances and catchy songs from the Táo characters, with many of the trending elements not making it into this year’s show. During the broadcast, numerous negative comments emerged from viewers on social media. Many voiced a common sentiment, suggesting that the Táo this year feels too bland and lacks clarity, leaving audiences unsure of what they are watching. Notably, some viewers even questioned whether the 2024 Táo Quân was written using Chat GPT, an AI-enabled program that allows users to interact with AI.
The complete overhaul of the script, motifs, and cast has made it difficult for viewers to adjust. Some commentators suggested that the program should be renamed to “Táo Xuân,” as the Táo characters seem to have lost their roles in this year’s show. The only notable appearance was that of Táo Văn Thể Mũ, who was notably featured in the opening segment of the program.
