Currently, the film titled The First Omen – The Omen of the Devil is causing a stir among audiences in Vietnam and globally. This horror project, which carries spiritual themes, features numerous 18+ segments that are shocking and rarely “censored” on the big screen. Even the family of the lead actress has had a “memorable” experience while watching the film in theaters.
Sharing with People magazine, the lead actress of The First Omen – Nell Tiger Free revealed that she was completely immersed in her role this time, even though she generally does not enjoy horror films. Free shared, “I don’t like watching horror films. My mindset was very weak, so I had to hold on to the person next to me during the screening. I remember my nails left many marks on their arm because I was very tense throughout the film.“
The character’s emotional journey remains intense until the very end, while the actress herself is more like a “dead weight” than anything else. “I nearly fainted at the scene where I gave birth to my baby. After that, I calmed down. The director was very encouraging, and I had to hold my breath. He even brought Mars bars for me! At that moment, I thought, ‘What? When is the girl giving birth? Really?’“, Free recalled with a chuckle as she shared more.
However, being completely immersed in the character turned her into a “dead weight,” making the actress feel pressured yet fulfilled. In The First Omen, Nell Tiger Free plays the nun Margaret, who is sent from the Vatican to Rome, Italy. At the new convent, Margaret faces various strict rules, from the eerie signs that lead to the next person beside her being taken. Each scene is a source of horror that is more complex than it seems.
In The First Omen, there are many horror scenes, even causing the audience to gasp because of its “macabre” themes. Besides the intense birth scene of the lead actress, the film features numerous other horrifying moments, making it possible to scream five times in just one sitting.
