Hong Kong 2023 Beauty Pageant: Trang Tu Tuyen Crowned Winner
On August 28, 2023, HK On reported that Trang Tu Tuyen was crowned the winner of the Hong Kong Beauty Pageant 2023. She was recognized not only for her stunning looks but also for her high academic achievements, receiving excellent evaluations on her performance during the competition.
According to HK01, throughout the competition, Trang Tu Tuyen consistently ranked in the Top 3 of the brightest contestants, as she was selected to represent the Hong Kong region before the final night. However, the beauty contest has a strict rule stating that “any contestant who represents the region before the final night will not be eligible for the crown.” Despite this, Trang Tu Tuyen confidently stated that she would break this rule and strive for victory.
Standing at 1.68 meters tall and weighing 51 kg with measurements of 84-58-89, Trang Tu Tuyen is currently a student majoring in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Hong Kong, which ranks 36th among the top 50 universities worldwide. She also shares her field of study with the 2016 Miss Hong Kong, Fung Wing-Yin. Trang Tu Tuyen’s beauty is often compared to that of South Korean singer IU.
After winning, Trang Tu Tuyen revealed that prior to the final, she had been worried to the point of needing medical attention. However, the 21-year-old beauty expressed her eagerness to participate in events and TVB programs as the newly crowned Miss Hong Kong 2023.
According to HK01, Trang Tu Tuyen is one of the most notable contestants, yet she also sparked the most controversy. Other contestants expressed their dislike for her, labeling her as “two-faced,” and suggesting that she was only friendly with others in front of the camera. In addition, Trang Tu Tuyen has been known to enjoy giving gifts to staff members during her time in the competition, which has drawn mixed reactions.
The grand finale of the Hong Kong Beauty Pageant took place on the night of August 27, where Trang Tu Tuyen secured the title of Miss Hong Kong with a prize of 3 million HKD (approximately 400,000 USD). The first runner-up was Yu Yi-Ning, and the second runner-up was Man Tze. Additionally, contestant Kwan Yi-Ning won the Miss Photogenic title, and Yu Yi-Ning received the Miss Friendly title. The contestants were also offered contracts to work with TVB.
