As one of the largest projects of the year, Disney’s 56th animated film, Moana (titled in Vietnam: Moana’s Journey), promises to bring audiences a refreshing breeze with its character design inspired by Polynesian culture and incredibly catchy songs. In addition to the release of a new talent – 16-year-old Auli’i Cravalho, the film also features the contribution of action superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Originating from a well-known wrestling background, Dwayne Johnson transitioned from a professional wrestling career to acting. Three years later, in 2001, his role as “The Scorpion King” in the blockbuster action-adventure film – The Mummy Returns turned him into a globally beloved actor.
The Scorpion King – Dwayne Johnson’s breakthrough role
With his towering physique and muscular build, Dwayne has been cast in many “tough-guy” roles, often requiring him to portray powerful characters in films such as Fast and Furious 7, San Andreas, G.I. Joe, and more. However, Dwayne Johnson is also recognized for his comedic performances, notably in films like Be Cool (2005), where he played a gay character, and “The Tooth Fairy” (2010) where he starred as a fairy. Most recently, he showcased his comedic chops in the film Central Intelligence, which was released this summer.
