Previously known as miHoYo, HoYoverse has achieved remarkable success with Genshin Impact, a role-playing game that follows the gacha style, generating over $6 billion in revenue across mobile platforms.
Since the launch of Genshin Impact in 2020, the company based in Shanghai has also released two additional online games: Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, both of which have garnered significant acclaim.

According to a report from Bloomberg, HoYoverse’s current objective is to establish a virtual world by 2030, described as “more real than reality.” This initiative could pave the way for advancements in the metaverse, potentially integrating augmented reality technologies.
Documents obtained indicate that HoYoverse is not merely a video game company. To emphasize this point, the materials compare HoYoverse with innovative technology firms like Apple and SpaceX. However, details about the virtual world that HoYoverse is developing remain vague. The company declined to comment on Bloomberg’s report but confirmed that there are certain points that are not entirely accurate without elaborating further.

Despite its ambition to venture beyond the gaming realm, HoYoverse remains focused on developing new games. The company is working on several game projects modeled as “open-world farming and world-building” experiences, aiming to attract new players while avoiding competition with existing games. One of the upcoming projects is Honkai: Nexus Anima, which combines role-playing elements with the collectible mechanics reminiscent of Pokémon, while still retaining HoYoverse’s distinct gacha style.

With a vision to build a virtual world connecting 1 billion users by 2030, HoYoverse is heavily investing in innovative cultural and technological developments, along with expanding globally with offices in Los Angeles, Montreal, Seoul, Tokyo, and Singapore. Although the specifics of the initiative are still under wraps, HoYoverse’s ambition indicates that the company is moving towards defining the future of digital experiences, transcending the traditional boundaries of the video game industry.
