Bug Kaveh – The Menace That Made Genshin Impact Players “Lose Consciousness”
In nearly four years of development for Genshin Impact, the gaming community has never encountered a serious issue quite like the “Kaveh bug,” which emerged in August 2023. At that time, players on Chinese servers discovered that during co-op sessions, if one player used Kaveh’s or Nahida’s original skills on structures like the Shangri-La, Lost Heavenly God Temple, or bosses like Childe, these entities could disappear from existence. Once this occurred, it was impossible to recover them by any means – be it logging out, restarting the game, or reporting the error.

This bug didn’t just occur in co-op mode; players could manually “erase” their original character from the individual game world if they unintentionally used the skills in an incorrect location. There were also reports of losing characters in the background, losing the ability to unlock certain areas, and even suffering from health loss due to the “erase” bug.

Even after miHoYo quickly detected and penalized numerous accounts using the bug, issuing bans of up to 10 years, the shadow of this issue still looms heavily over players. Many gamers have been hesitant to use features that allow players to enter the game world, effectively halting co-op play for an extended period.
“Kaveh Bug 2.0” Unexpectedly Returns to Genshin Impact
Just when it seemed like the malevolent bug had passed, a new and more severe version of the “Kaveh bug” has resurfaced. On European and American servers, hackers have exploited the character Kaveh (previously causing confusion before the incident) to destroy the entirety of another player’s game world. This time, the issue isn’t merely the deletion of objects, but involves “spamming” Celestial Nails – an object that shouldn’t exist within the game’s lore – to expose all critical objects such as NPC Katheryne, which then becomes part of the game’s content, including endgame access points.

Worryingly, these Celestial Nails cannot be removed, moved, or disabled, leading to players experiencing a “soft-lock” of their game world, making it impossible to complete missions or interact with standard game features. Some players have reported being unable to log back in, as their game worlds have become unusable.
The hacker involved is believed to go by the handle @/Ameno_minmax, according to a post circulating on Spanish social media (now known as X). However, miHoYo has yet to issue an official statement or confirm any bans that have been recorded.

In light of this serious situation, the international gaming community has issued warnings to players: “Do not” engage in co-op with unfamiliar players and “do not” grant access to your game world to anyone, even if they seem trustworthy. The new Kaveh bug, whether resulting from system faults or malicious behavior, poses significant damage and has become nearly impossible to recover from.
