LPL Expresses Gratitude to T1 for Winning the 2024 World Championship
The 2024 season will be seen as a challenging turning point for the LPL region as it faces numerous significant issues that are difficult to resolve. The situation is critical as the attractiveness of the league has seriously declined, leading to a loss of faith in the participating teams. Many believe that if an LPL team wins the World Championship, these issues will be partially resolved. However, T1, with its outstanding performance and leadership, has triumphed over BLG in the finals, earning this prestigious title.

This defeat for BLG will cause the LPL region to continue to reflect on its critical situation, although there are signs of positive change emerging in the 2025 season. Notably, big-name teams like IG, TES, and JDG are all “investing” to secure a strong foothold or build a “superstar” team. Furthermore, according to coach Poppy from EDG and LNG, in the event that BLG wins the 2024 World Championship, the competitive landscape for other LPL teams will not remain unchanged. Therefore, this coach has expressed heartfelt gratitude to T1 for securing this prestigious title.

“Before the finals, many people, including myself, thought BLG would win the 2024 World Championship. The emergence of a fully star-studded team from LPL winning the global championship would attract a lot of attention and investment. I truly have to thank T1 for having defeated BLG; otherwise, the LPL would have turned into a more desolate landscape. The fact that T1 won, while many LPL teams realized that BLG is not an invincible force, should prompt stronger investments to compete in the 2025 season,” shared Coach Poppy.

BLG’s Defeat Before T1 Helps LPL Find Development Momentum
One of the notable points for the LPL in recent years has been the stark disparity in strength between the top teams and the lower-tier teams. Indeed, lesser-known teams can create some surprising victories, but they will never truly compete for the championship title. However, this narrative has begun to change in the 2025 season as AL has surged impressively, realizing that BLG and other top teams could be vulnerable. The reality is that they have experienced significant success at the Demacia Cup 2024 leading into the LPL 2025 Split 1 and are currently ranked above the “giants” TES.

Combined with the influence of significant investments from various teams, the current LPL season is no longer just the playground for BLG. This is a sign of positive change after a long period of LPL losing its competitive attractiveness. However, a large region like the LPL still needs to claim the World Championship title to strengthen its position on the global League of Legends stage. Hopefully, with the resurgence of LPL as seen above, they will succeed in claiming the World Championship title, rather than letting LCK dominate as it has in recent years.
