When discussing the legendary figures in the *Three Kingdoms* era, names like Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, and Zhao Yun often come to mind. However, when asked who is the most powerful, many would assert that it is Lü Bu. Surprisingly, a recent ranking on the Sohu website places Lü Bu in third place, which has left many astonished.
Top 10 Legendary Warriors of the Three Kingdoms Era
10. Hua Xiong
Ranked last on this list is Hua Xiong (169 – 232), also known as Zhang Khang, who earned a reputation for being a fierce general under the warlord Dong Zhuo. Although Hua Xiong is in the tenth position, he is not to be underestimated, as he often prevailed in battles against other warriors.
During the Battle of Bosheng, Hua Xiong faced Lü Bu and was forced to retreat after 20 rounds. At that time, Hua Xiong was significantly weakened. In another encounter at Mount Dingjun, Hua Xiong and Sun Jian fought against Guan Yu, but both faced defeat.
9. Ma Chao
Ranked ninth is Ma Chao (176-222), who was known for his bravery. The main reason Ma Chao did not rank higher is due to his late emergence in the historical records.
At the Battle of Hanzhong, Ma Chao once faced off against Zhang Fei, but at that point, Zhang was nearing 50 years old, while Ma Chao was still in his 30s. If they were of equal age, Zhang Fei might have been stronger than Ma Chao.
8. Nhan Lương
Ranked eighth is Nhan Lương (160–200), who dealt a significant blow to the army of Dong Zhuo after defeating Lu Bu in just 20 rounds at the Battle of Bạch Thủy.
However, in another battle, Nhan Lương dealt a lethal blow to Guan Yu in one encounter, which left many astonished. This incident is why Nhan Lương only ranks eighth.
7. Triệu Vân
Triệu Vân (168 – 229), also known as Xuande, ranks seventh. He fought against Wan Su in 50-60 rounds but faced a significant defeat when encountering Guan Yu, who was killed after just three rounds. This shows that there was still a considerable gap in strength between Triệu Vân and Guan Yu.
6. Quan Vũ
Quan Vũ (158?–220), also known as Guan Gong, is regarded by many as one of the top warriors of the Three Kingdoms era, yet he only ranks sixth. This ranking is attributed to the exceptional prowess of Zhang Fei and Huang Zhong, which overshadowed him. Following his victory over Nhan Lương, Quan Vũ was known to have a special affinity with Zhang Fei, who was considered superior to him.

In another battle, the difference in martial prowess between Quan Vũ and Huang Zhong became apparent. At the time, Quan Vũ was just under 50 years old, while Huang Zhong was already over 60. It is evident that while Quan Vũ was younger, the outcome of their battles was still unfavorable. This suggests that if they were of the same age, Huang Zhong would undoubtedly be stronger than Quan Vũ.
5. Zhang Fei

Zhang Fei (163-221), from Yicheng, ranks fifth. His position is attributed to Huang Zhong’s exceptional performance in battles against Quan Vũ. At the age of 60, Huang Zhong was still capable of competing with Quan Vũ. However, with age, Huang Zhong became remarkably stronger. It is clear that Huang Zhong is even stronger than Zhang Fei.
4. Huang Zhong
As previously stated, Huang Zhong (145-222), from Hán Thương, can undoubtedly rank above both Quan Vũ and Zhang Fei. If he were not following the guidelines of Lü Biểu, but rather those of Cao Cao or Lü Bei, Huang Zhong would have already gained fame long ago.
3. Lü Bu
Lü Bu (160 – 199), also known as Lü Bu or Phượng Tiên, ranks third on this list. His strength is unparalleled and cannot be easily dismissed. As a testament to his power, even Guan Yu and Zhang Fei together could not defeat Lü Bu.
2. Xuande
Ranked second is a lesser-known figure—Xuande. This character emerged during the era of Sun Tzu, and his fame was due to his leadership in a significant battle. When he appeared, he led 12 warriors in a strategic assault against the enemy, resulting in a decisive victory.
1. Ngột Đạt Cát
At the top of the list is none other than Ngột Đạt Cát, regarded as the ultimate warrior during the *Three Kingdoms* era. Ngột Đạt Cát was a southern barbarian king of the land of Ô Qua, renowned for his martial prowess and tactical brilliance.

This character emerged during the era of Gia Cát Lượng, often clashing with other notable figures. Standing over two meters tall, he was known for his imposing presence and formidable strength, making him a legendary figure that even the likes of Triệu Vân and Nguy Diên would not dare to challenge directly. Ngột Đạt Cát is considered the pivotal character who helped Mạnh Hoạch reclaim the throne, leaving a formidable legacy.
