Throughout various comics and films, Doraemon has had to navigate relationships with other cats, such as Noramyako, and experienced a wide range of emotional situations. This raises a significant question: How advanced has artificial intelligence become in the future, allowing robots to have feelings like humans? Or is Doraemon merely a living being, not just a machine?
2. Robots and Their Roles in Modern Society
Doraemon is depicted as a product of advanced technology, yet often faces limitations in his abilities and power. He is often hindered by restrictions and is not highly regarded in his contemporary society. However, the paradox lies in the fact that he possesses a vast array of gadgets that could potentially disrupt time travel, alter the course of history, control the weather, or even cease the world’s activities altogether. Why does no one know where Doraemon gets his gadgets from? Why are they not subject to any form of control, and how can such a “robot” be utilized in such a careless manner? In a futuristic society, where an advanced system exists, would it be acceptable for such gadgets to fall into the hands of children?
3. The Ethics and Safety of Gadgets
The gadgets in Doraemon are often portrayed as futuristic products, showcasing the pinnacle of scientific achievements. However, contrary to their futuristic appearance, they lack any comprehensive safety protocols. A child like Nobita could easily use “battery-powered” devices, “emergency escape tools,” or “time machines” without any guidance, permission, or warnings. This situation not only presents dangers but also raises ethical concerns. If in the future, humans are intelligent enough to create such devices, why wouldn’t they establish control measures or limit access to prevent potential risks? Doraemon has never mentioned any legal regulations in the future, leading many to question whether society has become… lawless.
4. The “Time Police” as a Plot Device
A recurring theme in the series is the mention of a group known as the “Time Police,” whose role is to oversee time travel activities to prevent timeline changes. However, this organization rarely appears, lacks consistent presence, and does not have a clearly defined role. In most timelines, Nobita and Doraemon can travel freely into the past or future, meddling in significant events without encountering any opposition. Only when severe consequences occur do the Time Police intervene, often in a “patchwork” manner. This highlights a significant inconsistency in the narrative logic of Doraemon, as a serious regulatory framework exists yet only serves to provide “decoration” for a few unique storylines.
5. The Time Paradox: Who Sent Doraemon Back?
The initial premise of Doraemon is that Sewashi, Nobita’s descendant, sent Doraemon back in time to change Nobita’s disastrous fate. According to Sewashi, if Nobita continues with his current path, his family will fall into ruin. However, when Doraemon helps Nobita win over Shizuka and alters the entire chain of events, Sewashi still exists. This raises the question: Who is Sewashi a descendant of? If the family line changes, why does he still exist? And if there were no Sewashi, who sent Doraemon back? This represents a classic example of a “bootstrap paradox”—where the cause and effect create a loop without a clear origin. This question has puzzled many fans for decades.
6. Nobita’s Academic Achievement Dilemma
One of the most controversial aspects of Nobita’s character is his consistent score of zero in tests. Statistically speaking, even a random guess could result in him getting at least a few answers right. Nobita’s perpetual zero score is completely illogical unless he has some hidden method of avoiding wrong answers. This could be seen as a comedic detail that highlights the character’s troubles, but it also points to a significant flaw in the storytelling logic of Doraemon.
7. The Bamboo Copter and the Laws of Physics
The bamboo copter is a gadget that allows users to fly in the air. However, in terms of physics, the design lacks any logical explanation for how it can function. For instance, users are not protected from wind resistance, temperature changes, or collisions while flying at high altitudes. Additionally, the mechanism that powers the bamboo copter has never been scientifically explained. This is one of the most glaring “loopholes” that frequently appears throughout the entire series.
