New Champion in League of Legends: The Upcoming Skills of Mel
According to the information from League of Legends, during the Preseason phase, Riot will introduce significant updates that may include champion reworks, new game mechanics, or entirely new champions. In the 2025 Preseason phase, Riot will unveil a new champion based on the series Arcane. This champion is Mel, the daughter of the champion Ambessa, who has previously appeared in Summoner’s Rift.

However, only a clip trailer showcasing some of Mel’s abilities has sparked intense debate within the League of Legends community. Specifically, Mel’s W ability, known as Soul Mirror, will reflect any ability fired from the opposite direction.
According to the trailer, even unique abilities that are exclusive to specific champions, such as Urgot’s R ability or Draven’s Spinning Axe, will be reflected if they come into contact with Mel’s W ability. Furthermore, if two abilities collide simultaneously, Mel’s W will reflect both abilities.
Clearly, the new champions from Riot are increasingly demonstrating their “breaking the mold” approach. Ambessa is set to debut at the end of 2024 with abilities not dissimilar to an upgraded version of K’Sante. Meanwhile, Mel’s abilities are primarily focused on her W, which has a very short cooldown while being capable of reflecting almost all abilities from League of Legends champions.

Moreover, only a few champions have been featured in the trailer, and there are still many champions with powerful abilities that have yet to be revealed about whether Mel can reflect them or not. As a result, the League of Legends community is eagerly waiting to experience this new champion in the near future when Mel officially enters Summoner’s Rift.
