Despite the mixed reactions initially, the remake version of the Fish-Man Island arc from One Piece continues to attract a significant number of viewers, even ranking among the top 10 best anime shows of the Fall 2024 season. While fans are still debating whether this remake holds true to the original or not, the latest episode of the remake has certainly provided a humorous twist to Sanji’s character.
In episode 10 of the Fish-Man Island arc remake, viewers witness Sanji’s first encounter with Shirahoshi. The new version has created a notable shift, making this scene more comical and enhancing the overall absurdity of the situation.
Alongside the new animation style, the remake has also introduced a new soundtrack for this segment. This new musical score is used in contrast to the music from the tragic demise of Corazon, emphasizing the emotional shift with Sanji’s antics.

Sanji’s First Encounter with Shirahoshi: A New Symbolic Moment
One of the most memorable moments in the Fish-Man Island arc is when Sanji first lays eyes on Shirahoshi, as he dreams of finding All Blue while peeking at the beautiful mermaid princess. This scene originally aired in episode 537, accompanied by the soundtrack titled “To the Grand Line,” which is typically used when Luffy or any member of the Straw Hat crew expresses their dreams.
The new soundtrack, now titled “Bloom in Winter, Miracle Cherry Blossoms,” composed by Kohei Tanaka, adds a more cheerful tone to the scene compared to previous soundtracks associated with One Piece. This music first debuted in the 9th One Piece film and is often linked to the emotionally charged moment of Rosinante’s demise in episode 706.
Although Sanji still finds himself in a precarious situation after seeing Shirahoshi, the distinctiveness between the new soundtrack and Sanji’s overall demeanor has made this new version even more humorous than the original.
