The Rock escapes from prison in ‘Fast & Furious 8’

Since the appearance of Luke Hobbs, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, in Fast Five (2011), this character has quickly captured the hearts of fans. However, in Fast & Furious 7 (2015), the role he played did not have significant screen time, mainly featuring a brief hand-to-hand combat with Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) at the beginning of the film, and a longer scene showcasing gunfights towards the end.

The star wrote: “A few months ago, screenwriter Chris Morgan joked: ‘It would be a disaster if in Fast 8, Hobbs was sent to the most maximum-security prison in the world, right?’ I replied: ‘It would still be a disaster if Hobbs accepted everything and broke out.’”

At that time, my goal was to bring to fans some of the most thrilling action sequences ever seen. The epic showdown behind Hobbs’s arms is the “ultimate showdown.”

To break out, Luke Hobbs finds a way to launch a riot in prison.

As such, alongside high-octane car chases, Fast & Furious 8 also promises a thrilling action scene featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at the center. However, the question that intrigues viewers is why Hobbs finds himself behind bars, or is this merely a throwback to the scene involving Brian O’Conner, played by Paul Walker, in Fast & Furious 6?

Fast & Furious 8 is directed by F. Gary Gray. Alongside familiar faces like Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Michelle Rodriguez, the film also features the participation of star Charlize Theron in a pivotal role.

The blockbuster is set to hit theaters worldwide on April 14, 2017.
