Despite its controversial content, The Idol remains one of the most discussed television series today, particularly for its explicit adult scenes. On June 18th, episode 3 titled Daybreak continued to deliver intense and provocative experiences to its audience. The most talked-about scene features Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) and Tedros (The Weeknd) in an intimate moment in a changing room.
Even though Jocelyn is a public figure and Tedros is her romantic partner, their private interactions are anything but discreet. The powerful sounds emanating from behind closed doors leave viewers feeling awkward. Later, when the pop star emerges, the bar owner remains oblivious to the commotion.

On social media, the public is buzzing about the shocking events depicted in the show:
“The scene in the changing room was both hilarious and shocking, but I think it was the most intense scene so far. After that, Tedros just locked himself in the room. What bizarre thing happened with this episode?”
“Why do I keep watching The Idol? It’s so absurd. Why are the owners of Valentino’s store acting like that?”
“The sex scene in the changing room in episode 3 looks like two monkeys fighting.”
“I can’t imagine what happened with the Valentino brand after the latest episode of The Idol.”
The shocking “gritty” scenes featuring male and female characters in the changing room are not the only aspects of episode 3 that have sent Twitter into a frenzy. HBO’s production team has been criticized for going too far in their portrayal of certain sensitive topics.
While Jocelyn becomes embroiled in a tumultuous romance with Tedros, Andrew Finkelstein (Eli Roth), the music video director, takes issue with her work ethic. Finkelstein expresses his frustration over Jocelyn’s behavior, claiming it exacerbates his IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). “I’m bleeding more than anyone else in the Epstein situation,” he laments.

In Hollywood, Jeffrey Epstein is infamously known as the “Perv Island” owner. A wealthy financier with significant influence, Epstein was a prominent figure in the U.S. until his arrest in 2019 on charges of sex trafficking, which involved the exploitation of minors and sexual misconduct.
Epstein owned Little Saint James, a private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. This location became infamous for concealing the dark pleasures of his lifestyle. When the allegations of sexual abuse came to light, Little Saint James was referred to as the “Pedophile Island” or “Island of Sin.”
Even after his death by suicide in a Manhattan jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking, Jeffrey Epstein remains an indelible part of Hollywood’s narrative.
Due to this, Finkelstein’s remarks sparked a backlash in the online community:
“For me, discussions about Epstein have gone too far. It’s becoming a thorny issue regarding child trafficking.”
“It shouldn’t be a joke. It’s about real victims and their suffering. I can forgive a performance, but using child sex trafficking as a punchline is crossing a line.”
“Director Sam Levinson is treading on thin ice regarding the Epstein issue. What is there to discuss? It’s horrifying when someone thinks that this is a clever line.”
“The reference to Epstein in episode 3 of The Idol is the most disturbing thing I’ve ever heard on television.”
“I genuinely tried to give The Idol a chance. But episode 3 broke the camel’s back with the line about Epstein.”
