Hot scenes in Vietnamese films have always been a sensitive topic, and if not handled well, they can turn into mere views for sensationalism. Even as audiences have become more accepting of content labeled “adult,” hot scenes remain a contentious subject. Looking back at hot scenes in contemporary Vietnamese cinema, few realize that such moments have existed since the 1980s. The first actress to perform a hot scene on screen was actress Hồng Minh in the film “Vệt Sáng Ngược” (1980).

In the film, actress Hồng Minh plays the love interest of the character Bằng (portrayed by Trần Nhưỡng). The two actors had a passionate scene that was so intense that it was cut almost entirely before the film’s release, leaving only the most minimal parts. Despite this, the filming of that “hot scene” became an unforgettable memory not only for the two main actors but for the entire film crew.
According to Trần Nhưỡng’s sharing, he was quite shy during the filming, while Hồng Minh was more confident and engaging. Interestingly, during filming, the actress abruptly fell into character, becoming so immersed that she claimed to have “lost herself” while portraying her role. The scene extended over 3 minutes in the film, but the energy felt real and immersive throughout.
Hồng Minh was a prominent name in the Vietnamese film industry. With a striking Western beauty, her captivating eyes and unique personality made her stand out among her peers. Many memories remain from the times Hồng Minh appeared on screen, including some unfortunate traffic accidents due to her captivating presence.

However, as her acting career was blossoming, Hồng Minh unexpectedly veered away from the spotlight. At only 19, she married the renowned artist NSND Bùi Huy Hiếu, who was 23 years her senior. Since then, the actress has almost completely withdrawn from the public eye, choosing a private life away from fame and the pressures of the entertainment industry. After a period away, Hồng Minh rarely appeared before the public, focusing instead on personal travels and experiences. This has left fans incredibly disappointed, especially when reminiscing about the exceptional talent that once graced the screen.
