In the realm of anime, Dragon Ball has made a significant impact, largely thanks to the talented voice actress Masako Nozawa, who was chosen by creator Akira Toriyama to voice the character Son Goku. Nozawa has also lent her voice to other beloved characters in Dragon Ball, including Gohan, Goten, Black Goku, Turles, and Bardock. Additionally, she has voiced countless characters in movies, anime, video games, radio, and live-action projects over her impressive 50-year career.
Recently, Masako Nozawa has taken a bold step by providing her voice for an AI (artificial intelligence) model that will be used even after her passing, through a collaboration with Coemo.
In Japan, Coemo is a pioneering platform designed for users, utilizing the latest AI technology to synthesize voices from various individuals. Coemo will also employ the synthesized voice to create narratives, enhancing the listening experience for users through audio without the need for video. Currently, it consists of 60 pieces of content, including stories and songs, with plans to add even more content in the future.
Prior to this announcement, there were already discussions among fans, highlighting the emotional weight of the news: “One of the saddest pieces of news I heard today is that Masako Nozawa, the iconic voice actress of Goku, has provided her voice for AI to be used after she passes away.”
