The First Jeep
The first appearance of the Hulk came in 1962 in The Incredible Hulk #1, where the initial target he wrecked was a military jeep. However, the young man felt quite disappointed after smashing this vehicle.
Despite this detail making an impression on viewers at the time, after issue 1, the authors seemed to think it was better to keep Hulk in a fighting mode, smashing things afterward instead of reflecting on his own mistakes. Such repetitive details made the audience bored with Hulk, and the initial impression of this superhero quickly faded, leading to a need to reinvent him right in issue 6. As the authors intended for him to smash the jeep, there could have been other interesting challenges for this young man.
The Bear vs. Nature
One rather odd detail is that Hulk has a very peculiar relationship with nature. Just a minute ago, he could be seen clearing a forest of its trees, and shortly after, he was missing them immediately. In Marvel Fanfare #17, when Hulk drank contaminated water and eventually got stuck in a deep swamp, he later emerged, being saved by the wildlife in the forest and having a new life here.
Here, he had already saved a few animals, but when a fire broke out in the forest, threatening their habitat, this poor bear was caught in the havoc. The bear, in a panic, ran towards Hulk, and Hulk swiftly crushed the unfortunate bear in one swipe. This detail later drew significant criticism from fans, who pointed out that the bear was merely trying to escape the flames; why did he have to kill it?
Socrates’ Wall
A young man who often speaks like Hulk surely appreciates logic. In one of his casual encounters (a typical day for Hulk), he discovered that he was standing in front of a wall of a philosophy department. After causing a commotion, Hulk suddenly noticed a 3-meter-high wall engraved with the image of a Greek philosopher.
Hulk then smashed this wall, but immediately after, the image of the philosopher under the wall made him feel sad and start to cry. Hulk then transformed back into Bruce Banner. It seemed that if Hulk’s personality didn’t smash the wall, he would still retain this form for a while longer before reverting back to Bruce Banner.
Daredevil
Daredevil is one of the characters famously known as the Man Without Fear. However, in Daredevil #163, he had to run in fear during a battle with Hulk. These two characters met when Daredevil attended a party and happened to talk with Bruce Banner, who was inside the Hulk.
However, shortly after that, Hulk, as he often does, started to rage and smash everything around him, including Daredevil. Despite his failure, Daredevil still managed to stand up to Hulk one more time and this time, he was punched by Hulk until he bled. Witnessing his friend being battered by Hulk, he transformed back into Bruce Banner – a tragic fate for Daredevil.
Smashing a Snail
If you want to know what destruction is like, just watch Hulk’s antics, and you’ll be amazed. However, sometimes Hulk can be so bored that he just wants to “play” with the creatures around him, leading to violence against defenseless beings, such as smashing a snail just for fun.
He even had a conversation with… this snail, and when the snail “didn’t want to talk” (as a reply to why he had to be smashed), Hulk shouted out loud and crushed the snail, causing all the juices to spill out, destroying a large area. Fortunately, Spider-Man was able to mop up some of the spilled juices, so the damage wasn’t too extensive.
Self-Demolition of His Own House
If you want to find the fastest way to destroy your own house, it’s quite simple: just turn your house into Hulk’s neighborhood shop. In the 2003 film version, Hulk had a rather dramatic demolition scene where he didn’t just demolish his own house but also destroyed the neighboring shops.
When Hulk transforms and demolishes
Unluckily for any young man who unintentionally bought a house right next to Bruce Banner’s shop, when he transformed into Hulk, he ended up throwing a sofa chair through the neighbor’s house.
Destroying a Spring Party
During a spring party with the blue-colored tone hosted by The Electric Company, Hulk, who was not invited to the gathering, ended up crashing the party and smashing everything in sight. Ironically, the drinks at the party were Kool-Aid, and he had a lot of fun eating these candies, leading to the conclusion that… this party of ours was a riot.
