First Screenplay by J.K. Rowling
In previous films, although J.K. Rowling was the original author, she rarely participated in the adaptations. However, in this installment, J.K. Rowling takes on the role of screenwriter for the film.
Ministry of Magic Replaced by Magical Congress
Previously, the Ministry of Magic was featured in the Harry Potter series, acting as a governing body overseeing the wizarding world, as well as being a link between this world and the non-magical world. In Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the Ministry of Magic is replaced by the Magical Congress of the United States.
Newt Scamander is a Hufflepuff
Newt Scamander is quite a skillful wizard, but do you know which house he was sorted into? It’s not Gryffindor, but rather Hufflepuff. The story of this young wizard reminds us that while we often focus on Gryffindor and Slytherin, we may overlook the other two houses that also produce many talented wizards.
The Creatures Newt Carries
In this film, our magizoologist Newt Scamander carries several magical creatures to New York:
Billywigs – A type of magical insect resembling a giant dragonfly but with two wings on its head, native to Australia.
Bowtruckles – Creatures resembling sticks that guard wand trees.
Demiguise – A creature similar to a sloth with long blue fur, used to make invisibility cloaks.
Niffler – A creature similar to a mole that steals shiny objects, which can be seen escaping from Newt’s suitcase in the trailer.
Occamys – A type of bird that can shrink to fit its surroundings, resembling a winged snake.
Thunderbird – A bird that can create storms and is often depicted as a majestic creature.
Magical Creatures in the U.S. Must Register for Use
In the film, magical creatures in the U.S. cannot be purchased like regular groceries, similar to when Harry was guided to buy supplies in Diagon Alley. All magical creatures must be registered with the authorities before they can be used.
