Dandadan: A Promising Shonen Manga Set for Anime Adaptation
Dandadan is a popular Shonen manga created and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu, which debuted in April 2021. Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of its anime adaptation, set to premiere in Fall 2024.
This manga is renowned for its captivating battle sequences and stunning illustrations. Studio Science SARU has successfully transformed the unique art style of the manga into an anime, showcasing a creative and vibrant adaptation.
The story revolves around Momo Ayase and her classmate Takakura. While Momo believes in supernatural phenomena, Takakura—who is skeptical of the mystical—convinces her that extraterrestrials might be real. To prove their claims, they embark on a series of exciting and humorous adventures.
This coming-of-age story intertwines romance with supernatural elements, featuring encounters with ghosts, monsters, extraterrestrials, and various intense battles.

If everything goes according to plan, Dandadan is poised to become one of the biggest anime sensations globally. Shinichi Tabuchi, the Director of the Programming Department at MBS TV, has promoted the anime by stating (according to Yahoo news): “This is an anime that will appeal to audiences of all ages, as it deals with unexpected events while embracing each other’s diverse perspectives. I am confident it will spread like Jujutsu Kaisen, Haikyuu, and Demon Slayer.”
MBS is the production company behind Dandadan, in collaboration with Aniplex. Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer are among the most popular battle shonen series, while Haikyuu has become a favorite among sports anime enthusiasts.
A Global Phenomenon on the Horizon

In July, the first three episodes of the Dandadan anime were showcased at Anime Expo 2024, receiving widespread acclaim from attendees. Viewers praised the high-quality animation, with stunning visuals, distinctive artistic style, and engaging storyline. Many believe that Dandadan will exceed expectations based on the trailers released so far.
