After many years becoming a beloved event in the community, Twisted Masquerade – the special birthday festival for Dead by Daylight – officially kicked off its final edition for players.
This event not only celebrates the game’s anniversary but also attracts a massive number of players, with thousands of participants returning to the game developed by Behaviour Interactive, which has reached its highest player count on Steam in history.

Immediately after Twisted Masquerade 2025 officially launched on Friday, June 26th, Dead by Daylight recorded 120,717 simultaneous players on Steam – a number that has never been seen in the history of the game.
It’s worth noting that Dead by Daylight has maintained a steady rise in popularity over nearly a decade, with a continuous stream of new content, updates, and engaging community events. However, there has never been a moment where player counts reached such heights as during this event. The combination of nostalgia, the sentiment of a “last farewell,” and the unique event design has drawn gamers back together to experience and say goodbye to Twisted Masquerade.

First launched in 2022, Twisted Masquerade quickly became a “spiritual dish” familiar to the anniversary of Dead by Daylight. This year, celebrating its 9th anniversary, the event returns in the summer season – and is also the final season confirmed by the developer Behaviour Interactive. This year’s event not only revisits unique highlights from previous years but also enhances the gameplay experience with unique game mechanics: from random perks affecting gameplay to Invitations that allow players to unlock supernatural abilities. Each match is designed to be more chaotic, unpredictable, and filled with surprises – in line with the “twisted” spirit of the event. Not only does it provide a fresh experience, but the event also offers a range of exclusive rewards like Gilded Trinkets used to unlock cosmetics, outfits, and rare decorative items. With its “you never get it back” nature, these items are currently creating quite a buzz in the community.

According to confirmation from Behaviour Interactive, Twisted Masquerade will officially conclude on July 17, 2025, and will not return in the future. This marks a moment filled with emotions for those who have been closely connected with Dead by Daylight for years. With over 120,000 players simultaneously, Dead by Daylight not only set a new record but also solidified its position as a staple in the competitive PvP gaming landscape.
