TikTok Announces Suspension of Operations in the U.S.?
Recently, TikTok announced the suspension of its operations in the U.S. after facing intense scrutiny from the federal government. According to the statement, the social media platform has stated: “The announcements made today by the White House of President Biden and the Department of Justice have not provided clarity or guaranteed the necessary resources for service providers, yet the parties involved play a crucial role in maintaining TikTok for over 170 million users in the U.S.”

Just after the Biden administration quickly issued a decisive statement aimed at putting pressure on major service providers, it emphasized the importance of implementing measures. Unfortunately, TikTok will have to suspend its operations on January 19th.
However, Could TikTok Be “Saved”?
Despite this, TikTok may still have a “fallback” option as President Donald Trump indicated just last week that he has “many options” to lift the TikTok ban within 90 days after he assumes office on January 20th.

Previously, President Donald Trump had frequently expressed his opposition to TikTok. On December 27 last year, he had already contested the TikTok ban in a court filing, stating that if the Supreme Court intervenes, he could ensure a “political solution” following his swearing-in on January 20th to help the platform continue its operations in the U.S.
It is known that TikTok currently has 170 million users in the U.S., representing approximately half of the population, and is a major partner for service providers regarding data storage, user engagement, and direct services. The disappearance of this platform could potentially cause many issues related to finances for the associated businesses.
