Alongside the heroes, the superheroes and supervillains form an integral part of the vibrant world of comics. However, when adapted for the big screen, these characters often don extremely forgettable costumes that do not capture their essence. In most superhero films, the only character whose outfit might even be “worse” than that of the hero is typically the villain. Sometimes, this can make the villain appear more lackluster than the main character, while at other times, it simply signifies a missed opportunity for a great performance tied to a poorly executed costume.
Many of these supervillain costumes tend to fall short of expectations, often appearing ridiculous instead of menacing. For example, the Green Goblin’s costume in the 2002 film “Spider-Man” was a case in point, featuring excellent makeup and design ideas but ultimately resembling a character from “Power Rangers”.
