Dragon Ball Super is currently in a state of uncertainty, yet fans continue to eagerly anticipate the next developments in the storyline. Starting from March 2024, the community is hoping for a new arc. However, following the unfortunate passing of the creator Akira Toriyama last year, Dragon Ball Super has been indefinitely suspended. While this news is disappointing, many fans understand that Toyotaro needs time to regroup and redefine the direction of the series.
When a new chapter is expected to debut in February 2025 – a story arc set to follow the Super Hero Saga that concluded with the previous chapter – many fans have been hopeful that the narrative will return to its former glory. However, the manga continues to remain indefinitely on hold, leaving numerous fans worried about the future of Dragon Ball Super.
Toyotaro: “Not Impossible to Continue the Story”

Recently, Toyotaro attended a conference in France to discuss Dragon Ball Super at the Paris Japan Expo 2025. According to the French account DBTimes, he made a statement regarding the potential for the series to continue. He emphasized that “it is not impossible” for Dragon Ball Super to move forward, as he is the one who has been writing it.
Toyotaro explained his collaborative process with Toriyama-sensei: he sends drafts to Toriyama, who then approves or suggests modifications. Conversely, there are times when Toriyama sends story ideas to Toyotaro for him to consider and develop, after which Toriyama will provide his feedback. Given that a significant part of the story relies on Toyotaro’s creativity, he firmly believes that continuing without Toriyama-sensei would “not be ideal, but it is not impossible.”
This is not a formal confirmation of a return, but it is a beacon of hope for Dragon Ball Super fans. Toyotaro appears ready to take on the challenge, even if there are concerns about the absence of Toriyama’s guidance.
Is There Any New Information About Dragon Ball Super Coming Soon?
It is noteworthy that this discussion did not occur during Toyotaro’s official conference scheduled for July 6. This hints that DBTimes might have approached Toyotaro at a separate press event or coincidentally encountered him during the gathering.
The V-JUMP magazine is still actively promoting Dragon Ball Super as one of its key series, making it unlikely that the story would be entirely abandoned. However, this also depends on whether Toyotaro feels confident and clear about the direction to take for upcoming arcs. Regardless of where things go, this provides positive news for fans eagerly awaiting the next arc, particularly the anticipated Black Frieza saga. Therefore, fans should continue to pay attention to updates regarding the development of the series in the near future.
