The Transformers series has captured the hearts of audiences since 2007, but with the fourth installment – Transformers: The Last Knight, released in 2017, the franchise underwent a complete transformation with the introduction of a new cast. In this version, Josh Duhamel returns as Lieutenant Colonel William Lennox, and Tyrese Gibson reprises his role as soldier Robert Epps.
Recently, Gibson officially confirmed to ET Online that he would appear in Transformers: The Last Knight this year. At the same time, the actor is also set to star in the blockbuster action film Fast 8. This year is expected to be particularly busy for him with two major film projects.
Alongside Gibson, the cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Mitch Pileggi, Laura Haddock, and Anthony Hopkins, all contributing to the upcoming film Transformers: The Last Knight.
In addition to confirming his appearance in the Transformers franchise, Gibson also shared a photo of himself with director Michael Bay on Instagram, captioned “Got even more interesting.”
If you are unfamiliar, Robert Epps, played by Tyrese Gibson, is a significant character introduced in the Transformers series, and he continues to appear in Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon. In his first film, he fought alongside William Lennox and several other soldiers against the Decepticon forces in Qatar, later returning to the US to join the battle with Sam Witwicky, Mikaela Banes, and the Autobots.
In the second and third films, he also appears as a soldier in the human resistance against the robotic forces.
Transformers: The Last Knight is set to be released on June 23, 2017.
