When it comes to manga, few can compare to Akira Toriyama. From Dragon Ball to Dr. Slump and even Dragon Quest, Toriyama has helped create some of the most notable series in the Japanese manga/anime landscape.
And recently, Haruka Takachiho – a well-known figure in the anime and manga industry and the founder of Studio Nue – has made an incredibly interesting announcement related to Akira Toriyama.

As the creator of Dragon Ball, Haruka Takachiho has shared some insights regarding the upcoming project of Toriyama, which the latter has been preserving for the public.
The Legacy of Akira Toriyama

As you can see above, the notes provided by Takachiho highlight a project that Toriyama hopes will be published, but these notes have yet to be confirmed. The artistic style of the Dragon Ball creator is beautifully represented in this note collection. This gives us a familiar feeling, as it shares many characteristics with the styles seen in Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump.
According to Takachiho, he received these notes directly from Toriyama. “He kept them in his house, stacked them on top of each other high enough to match his height, and said to me, ‘You can take as many as you like,’ but I only took a few, and these are one of them.”
The founder of Studio Nue expressed his desire to preserve these rare notes for a future exhibition. There was a sentiment regarding Akira Toriyama’s legacy after he passed away. Takachiho mentioned he would be very pleased to showcase this artistic work at the exhibition, and he still retains many more notes than these.
What does the future hold for Dragon Ball?
This story is still developing following Toriyama’s notes, and it remains unclear, but hopefully, one day, a dedicated exhibition will be able to showcase them. Any of Toriyama’s works will certainly be well-received.
The world is mourning as news of Toriyama’s passing is expected to be announced at the beginning of 2024. From the legacy of those who have passed away, the works of Dragon Ball and Sand Land have already garnered millions of fans who honor them. Here, the legacy of the man has reached new heights and continues to inspire new generations of fans.
As for Dragon Ball, Toriyama has created a brand that will endure long after he is gone. This October, Dragon Ball Daima will premiere, and this anime is anticipated to be a significant project for Toriyama. From character design to storytelling, Toriyama has helped Toei Animation create this highly anticipated adventure. Dragon Ball Daima will debut on October 11.
