Mermaid Princess is a classic film that has inspired various adaptations worldwide, not just for Disney’s 2023 version “The Little Mermaid,” but also in many theatrical forms across the globe. In Vietnam, there is a unique adaptation of Mermaid Princess, which is presented with a distinct artistic style and elegance.
Back in 2004, the IDECAF theater stage premiered the play Once Upon a Time on the Seventh Day, inspired by Mermaid Princess, drawing from Andersen’s familiar tales. Instead of strictly adhering to Disney’s character designs, it creatively reimagined characters with unique traits, alongside whimsical and graceful names.
