2025 Marks a Year of Major Sports Events in Vietnam
The highlight will be the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) hosted in Thailand; the Olympic Esports Games in Saudi Arabia; the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain; and the Esports World Cup 2025 in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, several large-scale international sporting events will be organized in Vietnam, such as the ASEAN University Games, which will open widely. Among these, Olympic sports activities will be the main focus.
To implement this year’s plan, Mr. Do Viet Hung, Chairman of VIRESA, stated: “We affirm that this will be both a challenge and an opportunity for electronic sports in Vietnam to continue to break through and achieve many new accomplishments.”

Furthermore, with the goal of professionalizing electronic sports, VIRESA will collaborate with official publishers to launch a national electronic sports championship across various games, including League of Legends, VALORANT, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Audition.

In addition to that, the festival will also aim to launch a model of electronic sports, combining sports with cultural exchanges in tourism throughout 2025. This is to realize the goal of bringing Vietnam’s image closer to the international community, making Vietnam a destination for global electronic sports events.
At the event, 10 teams and 7 individuals will be awarded certificates of merit from the Vietnam Olympic Committee for their contributions and achievements in the electronic sports movement, including entertainment and quality sports in 2024. At the same time, VIRESA will also honor exemplary individuals, clubs, events, and electronic sports teams of the year, along with the promotion of outstanding athletes in electronic sports. The second event is set to take place in Ho Chi Minh City in February 2025.

Previously, the organizing committee aimed to hold events honoring outstanding athletes in 2023 and 2024. According to VIRESA representatives, honoring and promoting electronic sports athletes not only serves as an annual recognition event but also contributes to advertising Vietnam’s image, culture, and people to the international community.
